Shopping pumps and missing my cooler today.. I bought a Bonaire Durango window cooler when I bought my So Cal desert home 16 years ago.
We did have to replace the pump after many years, and now the fan motor died. Still far superior in performance, maintenance, repair them any cooler I’ve ever owned.
That it’s low profile and better looking is also a plus. ( installed in wall, replacing an old AC because of small opening portions of our windows )
** note to those like me in dusty environments (we have 2 1/2 acres of dirt) We installed UpDucts in the bedrooms so we do not need to crack any windows. The air finds those ducts and opens them when it’s on, (close when it’s off.) BONUS the cooled air circulates thru in the attic, and keeps it at a lower temp as well, and makes it even more efficient. Since we are in such a dry environment an attic fans helps keep the air moving and the attic from getting too moist.

Best evaporative cooler ever

I live in AZ. USA. I have had many metal coolers ( rust boxes ). This is by far the best. I recommend them to anyone that needs to replace their rust box.
There are no pillow bearing to have to oil. The fan is direct drive, so no belt to tighten or replace.
I have 3 of the windows units. Two of them went under water during a freak flood. I washed them out and let them dry. They have not needed any replacement parts. I use them every summer 24/7 for a minimum of 3 months.
These things are awesome
I am also completely solar powered, so power consumption is monitored carefully. These units on max only draw 250 watts ( one solar panel) . I run them on low speed mostly because running on hi speed will blow things off the wall. Not kidding!
I love these coolers!

3 years running

I have had the Bonaire Durango 4500 for 3 years. Depending on your location. Hard or soft water, the filter will eventually go bad. Other than the plastic inserts for the filter. That will break. Had to use bolts and washers to retain the mesh. No real complaints. Cheaper to run than my AC unit. Saving of 3/4 electric bill. Only downside is the filter. Alittle too pricey for me. So I had to use other medium for the Evaporative mesh.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your experience with the Bonaire Durango 4500 air cooler! We're glad to hear that it has been running for 3 years and has helped save on your electric bill. We appreciate your feedback about the filter and will pass it along to our team for improvement. If you have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for choosing Bonaire!

Going on 3 yrs and works great

Going on 3 yrs and works great. My electricity bill was crazy with AC/HVAC my first summer in new house in New Mexico and AC needed recharge often. It cost me about $500-$600. After I installed, my electricity bill went down 50% and paid for itself in 6 months. I just remounted on window for the third year and noticed I need a new float, it had lots of hard water buildup so I’ll get one at Home Depot tomorrow. I rinse pad often and it’s held up so far. Easy install, Remote control, it’s awesome. I even plug power cord into a Defiant smart plug and I can turn it on and off with my phone, even when I’m not home.

Love the Bonaire

This is my third Bonaire. One on my house and one on the garage. The oldest one, about 10 years old, became heavily scaled after I failed to keep the bleed off line open to keep the TDS down.
