FAQ Air Purifier

What is an Air purifier, and why do I need one?

  • An air purifier is a device that removes contaminants from the air in a room, improving indoor air quality. It is especially beneficial for those with allergies, asthma, or anyone looking to reduce indoor pollutants like dust, pollen, smoke, and Odors.

How does an Air purifier works?

  • Air purifiers work by drawing in air and passing it through a series of filters, including a HEPA13 filter, activated carbon filter, and sometimes a UV light or ionizer. These filters trap particles and pollutants, releasing clean air back into the room. a

What is a HEPA13 filter, and how does it help?

  • A HEPA13 (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including dust, pollen, Mold spores, pet dander, and other Airborne particles.

Can an Air purifier remove bacteria?

  • Yes, Air purifiers with HEPA13 filters can capture bacteria. Some models like A6 also include UV-C light, which can kill bacteria.

Does the Air purifier produce Ozone?

  • While some air purifiers can generate ozone, particularly those with specific ionizers or ozone generators, the Bonaire Air purifier prioritizes safety and does not produce ozone. It features a safe ionizer and UV sterilization, both of which enhance air quality without emitting ozone, ensuring a healthier environment for your home or office.

Can the Air purifier help with Pet Odors?

  • Yes, the activated carbon filter in our air purifier is specifically designed to absorb and neutralize pet odors, along with other household smells.

How do I choose the right Air purifier for my room size?

  • Look for the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) rating, which indicates the volume of filtered air delivered per hour. Match the CADR to your room size for optimal performance. For Our A6 Air Purifier, CADR is 312 CFM(Cubic Feet Per Minute), whereas the A4S Version has 150 CFM.

Is the Air purifier safe to use around children and pets?

FAQ Air Cooler

What is Evaporative Cooling & How it works?

  • Evaporative Cooling draws fresh air from outside your home, filters it, cools it via a honeycomb pad, and then circulates it through your home, forcing out hot, stale air through open doors and windows.

  • Bonaire’s Evaporative Air Coolers are built with three main components. A fan, water circulating pump system, and honeycomb padding for effective cooling. This 3-speed fan absorbs warm air. Then evaporation converts the moisture into water vapor and cools it down. A more humid air then flows out from the other side.

  • It is important to ventilate while using an evaporative air cooler. Simply open a window or keep the door open to eliminate over-humidity and allow the circulation of fresh air. Also, honeycomb padding may have some distinct odor when used first, but it will slowly dissipate in a few hours.

What are the advantages of Evaporative Cooling?

  • Circulates only fresh, clean air.
  • Gentle on noses, eyes and skin.
  • Reduces the spread of air-borne infections
  • Provides relief to allergy and asthma sufferers
  • Indoor plants thrive
  • Up to 50% cheaper to buy and install than comparable ducted refrigerated units
  • Up to 80% cheaper to run

How much energy does Evaporative Cooling save versus a refrigerated system?

  • A Bonaire Evaporative Cooler uses approximately one quarter of theelectrical energy required versus a refrigerated system.

How long will my pads last?

  • The life of your pads will depend on many different variables such as the quality of the water used as well of how often they are cleaned.  Onaverage our pads will last between 2 in areas of very poor water quality and up to every few years in areas of better water quality.

How quiet are Durango units?

  • The specially designed axial fans and 2 motor system, one for the fan and one for the pump, ensure minimum noise and maximum cooling performance even on low speeds.

Is this bleed off required or can it be restricted?

  • The bleed off rate is set in the factory to allow for optimum performance of the pads and the unit.  It can be restricted to minimize the flow, but this will shorten the life of the pads.

What is Intertek Certification?

  • Certification. Formally confirming that your products and services meet all trusted external and internal standards. Certification proves your credibility to the market. To deliver that credibility, Intertek maintains extensive global accreditations and recognitions for our testing and certification services. The ETL Mark is proof of product compliance to North American safety standards. Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and code officials across the US and Canada accept the ETL Listed Mark as proof of product compliance to published industry standards. Retail buyers accept it on products they're sourcing.

So, it's not an air conditioner, right?

  • YES. Bonaire’s Evaporative Air Coolers don’t depend on refrigerant gas or heavy compressors to lower air temperatures. Portable air coolers gradually reduce the heat by using the evaporation method. Bonaire’s evaporative coolers work efficiently in hot and dry weather conditions by releasing a cool breeze just like the refreshingly cool air flowing across the lake. Warm air is absorbed into the air cooler which is then filtered through a honeycomb cooling medium that naturally cools and humidifies it.

How is an air cooler different from a standard fan?

  • Standard fans use their blades to circulate air in the room, but they don’t cool the hot air. Air coolers use the natural process of evaporation to cool the hot air and use a powerful fan to distribute cool air in the entire room. When water transforms into water vapor through evaporation, the temperate of hot dry air can drop significantly.

Air Cooler Usage & Maintenance

How large of an area will it cool?

  • The CFM of the cooler indicates its cooling capacity. For instance, a cooler with a CFM of 600, can affect a radius of around 400 sq. ft. A cooler with a CFM of 3100 can cool a space of around 950 sq. ft. Evaporative air cooling also depends on the humidity and heat of its environment.

Can I use an air cooler while running central air or central heat?

  • An evaporative air cooler can minimize the need of solely depending on central air conditioners to cool your home. They help to circulate air all around the room while boosting the AC’s cooling action. Less air conditioning means more cost savings. Air coolers also help to add moisture to the over-dried air caused due to air conditioning. Evaporative air coolers act as a humidifier in winters.

How often and when should I clean my Bonaire unit?

  • We recommend cleaning your Bonaire unit once in the middle of the year and again at the end of the summer.  It is best to use clean fresh water when cleaning out the unit.  The recommend process for cleaning your unit is set out in the Owner’s Manual.  If your unit operates in areas with harsh water, you may need additional cleaning throughout the year.

Do I need to have my windows open when my Bonaire unit is running?

  • Always ensure that there is an open window or door through which the air can exhaust. This constant air exchange is essential, and a major benefit provided by Bonaire fresh air cooling. (Do not open doors or windows on the windward side of the home).

Can I use ice or cold water in my evaporative cooler for extra cooling?

  • Some models allow you to add ice or cold water to the water reservoir, enhancing the cooling effect.
